Technical documentation prepared for construction of streets in substandard Roma settlements in Kostolac, Paracin and Vlasotince

One of the important aspects of the Project “EU Support to Improvement of Living Conditions of Roma” is the development of technical documentation for the sustainable improvement of housing conditions in substandard Roma settlements in Serbia. In the previous period, for the needs of the municipalities of Kostolac, Paraćin and Vlasotince, the Project team prepared Detailed design (Project Execution Plans) for 12 streets, which total length exceeds 3.5 km. Each of these , mostly spontaneously formed streets in the settlements, are only periodically maintained and are in a very bad condition. Existing roads are not asphalted streets but are in actual fact a paved dirt or gravel roads, mostly without sidewalks and footpaths.

The construction of standard streets in substandard Roma settlements Tekijsko brdo (Paraćin), Crni Marko (Vlasotince) and Didino Naselje (Kostolac) will enable the residents of these settlements a better connection with the rest of the municipality, i.e. better access to local government services and education. On the other hand, appropriate streets will provide an easier access to public utility companies in these areas - thanks to the built street network, it will be possible to adequately collect and remove garbage from the mentioned settlements. In addition to the construction of the street, the construction of the rain sewer and connection to the sewer network is also planned, which will prevent flooding of the surrounding areas.

For each of three local self-governments, the technical documentation is designed to form a set of technical documents, prepared individually for each street. Technical documentation was intentionally prepared for individual streets, because in that way the local self-governments can perform works and constructions in phases, in accordance with the financial possibilities.
