Urban project for construction of children's playground confirmed
At the session held on November 17, 2021, the Commission for Plans of Požarevac considered and confirmed the urban project with elements of re-parceling for the construction of a children's playground in Didino naselje settlement in Kostolac. In order to involve the public more widely, the urban project was previously in a public hearing, where stakeholders could present proposals for improving the proposed solution.
Pozarevac undertakes numerous initiatives aimed at improving the living conditions of Roma, which is clearly indicated in the Local Action Plan for Social Inclusion of Roma. The plan was adopted for the period 2021-23, and it allocated funds in the amount of almost 180 million dinars to support the Roma population in the field of education, employment, and economic empowerment. The plan envisages the expansion and improvement of services in the field of social and health care, as well as the improvement of housing conditions for members of the Roma national minority.
According to the data from the last census, the total number of Roma on the territory of the city of Pozarevac is 1,209 or 1.96%, and on the territory of the municipality of Kostolac 2,659 inhabitants or 19.50%. In relation to the total number of inhabitants of the Roma population, the largest number is children age 5-9, then children up to 4 years, and finally children from 10 to 14 years old.
Having in mind a large number of Roma children, the team of experts first prepared a parceling project for the formation of a playground plot and then prepared an urban project with a conceptual solution for arranging a combined children's playground. The playground should contribute to the improvement of housing conditions and social integration of children of all national and minority groups in settlement Didino naselje, inhabited by around 1000 people, mostly Roma. The urban solution includes the construction of a multi-purpose sports field, the construction of a children's amusement park and the formation of landscaped park areas equipped with benches and public lighting.
