Urban project prepared for Loznica
The City of Loznica Department for Planning and Construction confirmed on December 22, 2020 project with the conceptual design of the residential building, prepared for Železnička Street, within Project “EU Support to Improvement of Living Conditions of Roma”. It is an urbanistic project of multi-family social housing, which creates the basis for the construction of a facility intended to address the housing needs of 14 Roma families. The project was previously exposed to public display, which confirms the city's commitment to involving the wider community in decision-making processes and improving plans.
Although Loznica has a relatively small Roma population in absolute terms (below one percent of the total population), the city is making significant efforts to improve living conditions for Roma. In addition to the fact that in the previous period the roads in substandard Roma settlements were reconstructed or asphalted, detailed regulation plans were prepared for two of the five substandard Roma settlements, the city continues to take numerous initiatives related to improving conditions for education, health and social protection, employment assistance.
By preparing urban documents for arranging the space and parts of the city that do not have adequate housing conditions, Loznica solves part of its needs for relocation and accommodation of Roma families. Although the urban project for Železnička Street does not envisage, such projects usually entail additional landscaping or construction of playgrounds, which regulates a wider urban space around the housing units for which the urban project is being prepared.
The team of experts continues work on the preparation of the re-parceling project, needed for the formation of the construction plots. Upon the issuance of location conditions by the city administration, technical documentation will be prepared (project for construction permit and project for execution of works) for the planned project of social housing and communal infrastructure. The entire technical documentation is prepared by a team of urban planners, architects, and engineers of various profiles engaged by the project.
