Urban project for Balata settlement confirmed
At its session held on October 30, 2020, the Commission for Plans of the City of Vršac considered and confirmed the urban project with the conceptual design of the Balata residential complex. In order to involve the public more widely, the urban project was in the previous period at a public exhibition, where stakeholders could make suggestions for improvement.
Numerous initiatives undertaken by the city, as well as projects implemented, are aimed at improving the living conditions of Roma, which make up 2.36 percent of the total population in the city. Bearing in mind that most Roma live on the outskirts of the city or in substandard Roma settlements, one of which is Balata, the urban project for the construction of social housing facilities creates the basis for the construction of 59 housing units and is prepared for this settlement. In this way, a part of the city's needs for relocation and accommodation of the most endangered Roma families and a part of other vulnerable groups without adequate accommodation will be solved. In addition, an urban project such as this creates conditions for the removal of illegal landfills, and for residents who live in the immediate vicinity of this settlement, the possibility of landscaped green areas is opened. This approach in the preparation of projects regulates an entire urban space around the block of housing units for which the urban project has been prepared.
Considering that the team of experts working on the preparation of technical documentation for the settlement of Balata successfully explained the urban project, which was confirmed by the Commission, the preparation of the re-parceling project continues, on the basis of which construction plots will be formed. This will be followed by the issuance of location conditions by the city administration of the City of Vrsac for the development of projects for building permits and projects for the construction of planned facilities and infrastructure and all this extensive technical documentation is prepared by a team of urban planners, architects, and engineers of various profiles.
